Attending a BBQ this weekend? No, Problem. Here are some tips and tricks to keep you on the right track:

  • Drink lots of water – not only will it be super hot but often our bodies mistake hunger for thirst

  • Don’t come hungry- have a healthy snack before you leave the house

  • Avoid bread- opt for a lettuce wrapped burger, or eat your protein without a bun

  • Stick to fruit – we know it’s hard but ignore the desserts, choose fruits instead they are refreshing and delicious

  • Be active – jump in the pool, play some sports, don't sit around and watch all the fun

  • Don't have sugary drinks- this includes sugary cocktails, and sodas, choose soda water and or tonic and lime as mixers

Here’s a light and delicious recipe all your guests will love…

Cajun Chicken Recipe:

Ingredients
Chicken

  • 4 - 6 chicken breasts

  • 2 tbsp avocado oil

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • Cajun Spice Mix

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp dried thyme leaves

  • ½ tsp dried oregano leaves

  • ½ tsp pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp cayenne

  • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper

  • Instructions

  1. Combine Cajun Spice Mix ingredients in a small bowl then set aside.

  2. Rub it in the chicken thighs with the avocado oil then with minced garlic and the Cajun Spice Mix.

  3. Place in a Ziploc bag and let it marinate for 2-3 hours.

  4. Prepare a charcoal or gas grill and cook for 10 minutes on each side or until chicken is cooked thoroughly.
