Healthy Snacks for the Sweet Tooth

CRAVINGS. How has science not yet found a way to get rid of our sweet cravings?!?! If you're anything like us you often find yourself asking the question "now what can I have that's sweet"? Most people assume fruit is the only healthy sweet option and in a world full of snickers, ice cream, and chocolate bars fruit rarely sounds appealing enough to be qualified as desert. We get it. That's why we have put together this blog post to hone you in on some of delicious desert options that pack all that sweet punch with out all of the guilt.

We have to remember that if we are too restrictive with our diets we have a much greater chance of bingeing on all the wrong things. But when we treat ourselves to a little bit of all the right things, we are then able to maintain our diet and of course our sanity.

1. Gluten/Grain Free Granola (aka paleo granola)

At Sugar Free Queen we love gluten free granola so much that we even started making it ourselves. Gluten Free Granola is made from a nut base and is so sweet an tasty you question why you ever had non gluten free granola to begin with. Gluten free granola makes the perfect snack, you can grab a handful and keep it in a ziplock bag and use it to munch throughout the day or use some as a topping for your yogurt in the morning. It also makes for a great snack for kids and is a great alternative to cereals which contain ridiculous amounts of high fructose corn syrups.
The ingredients in the granola are straightforward with no additives or ingredients you cannot pronounce, simply: raw walnuts, raisins, almonds blanched, coconut oil, maple syrup, vanilla extract, sunflower seeds, cinnamon, dried coconut, flaxseed.
